The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus will roll on January 30th, 2016 with the theme “Chewluminati: Nerd World Order”. The 2016 Parade will feature a giant Chewluminati Pyramid with an interactive All Seeing Eye, as well as a Reptillian Delorean Pope Mobile fit for a Lizard King. The parade will feature a veritable horde of celebrity guests including Corey Glover from the band In Living Color, the cast and crew of NCIS: New Orleans, and several more surprises. But perhaps even more interesting is the method by which the Krewe’s “Supreme Lizard Person” will be chosen…

The masterminds behind Chewbacchus have launched a multi-media conceptual scavenger hunt at www.chewluminati.com

Participants must solve a series of 9 clues on the website by collecting a range of images and artifacts located throughout the New Orleans metro area and in cyberspace. The ultimate winner in the game (and there will be only one) will receive a place of Royal Honor in the 2016 Chewbacchus Parade as the official Supreme Lizard Person of the Chewluminati. They will enjoy all of the honors and privledges associated with being Chewbacchus Royalty, including a ride in the Reptilian Delorean Pope Mobile (basically a cross between the time machine from Back to the Future, the Pope Mobile, and a Terrarium).

The 2016 Chewbacchus Parade will also feature a new route. The Chewbacchus Fleet will be staged at the Krewe du Vieux “Den of Muses” at 42 Architects Alley (Chewbacchus’ ancestral home) and lineup will start around the corner at N. Peters and St. Ferdinand.

Chewbacchus ROLLS promptly @ 7pm on Saturday, January 30th, 2016. The parade will feature over 100 seperate groups all celebrating the Sacred Drunken Wookiee in their own unique way.

Chewbacchus continues to grow in both scale and scope while expanding its efforts to be the most inclusive krewe in the Universe. The 2016 Parade will feature a collaborative experiment by NOLArts, Preservation Hall and iDIYA to create a safe place for children on the Autism Spectrum to participate in the parade along with their parents, guardians and caretakers while marching along with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

“Rules were made to be broken. Do whatcha wanna shall be the whole of the law. For the first time ever, this years Chewbacchus Parade will also feature the inclusion of gas powered Art Cars on a case-by-case approval basis. Several individuals with amazing art cars have clamored for years to roll in the parade. And the time has come to open things up to them.

Chewbacchus is also expanding to include our four legged canine friends in the mix. Dogs will be allowed to roll in Chewbacchus this year under the auspices of the brand new sub-krewe of Star Woofs”
